James Cameron's Avatar: a mini review
James Cameron's Avatar doesn't score much points for deep dialogue, but it's certainly fast paced and manages to pull off the whole "hero's journey" theme quite well. The transitions between live action and CG are seamless, and 3D effects are utilized to an amazingly high level of detail. Keen viewers will be quick to note the melange of cultural references used for the aliens (from the Jamaican accents and American Indian topknots to the South Pacific Islander-esque communal dances), but whether this is racial stereotyping or a conscious criticism of good ol' Western cultural imperialism is something you'll have to decide for yourself.

TF Device Label Ravage mini-review
My latest acquisition from Greattoys.net is this Device Label Jaguar based on Ravage from the original Transformers series. I was surprised by the build quality, as it's quite sturdy -and well it should be, as it's meant to be a 'cubicle toy' for the twentysomething TF fan. At 2GB worth of storage plus free software, it's well worth the P1.9k price.
